During the austral winter (June to September), majestic humpback whales migrate from Antarctic feeding grounds to the warmer waters around Mauritius. it’s entirely possible to glimpse these giants off the northeast coast, near the islets such as Coin de Mire, Round and Flat Island, where calm, shallow waters offer ideal breeding grounds . These gentle giants, often accompanied by their calves, perform spectacular surface behaviours—breaching, tail slapping and singing—creating unforgettable experiences for visitors.

Takeoff the turquoise blue seabase in front of LUX* Grand Gaube Hotel, overflying both land and sea.
This flight down to Grand Port, the oldest port of Mauritius will allow you to discover the biggest lagoon of the east coast of the island flying past île au Phare, also known as Île aux Fouquets where the lighthouse was built in 1864. Continuing down to Île aux Aigrettes and back to the base.
